Helloo is about meeting real people in the real world. That's the whole point — and it's also where the most care is needed. This policy explains what we do to keep meetups safe, what we ask of you, and what to do if something goes wrong.
In an emergency, call local emergency services first. In Australia, dial 000. Report to Helloo afterward.
What we do
- Vet members and hosts. We take steps to verify that people on Helloo are real humans, not bots or burner accounts. Hosts go through additional checks (see Host Terms).
- Keep clubs small and hosted. Every meetup has a real host responsible for keeping it warm and safe.
- Give you control over your identity. You stay anonymous until you choose otherwise. We don't require your photo, bio, or last name.
- Provide reporting tools. You can report a person or a meetup at any time.
- Act on reports. We review every report and can warn, remove, suspend, or ban.
What we can't do: We are not a background-screening service and cannot guarantee anyone's identity, history, or intentions. Vetting reduces risk; it does not remove it. Please read Section 6 of the Terms of Service on assumption of risk.
What we ask of you — before a meetup
- Meet in public first. Prefer cafés, parks, and public venues for early meetups.
- Tell someone. Share where you're going and when you expect to be back.
- Keep your own transport plan. Don't rely on someone you've just met to get home.
- Trust your gut. If a meetup or person feels off, you don't owe anyone an explanation. Leave.
- Protect your details. Don't share your home address, financial information, or documents with people you've just met.
During a meetup
- Watch your own drink and belongings.
- The host is there to help — flag anything uncomfortable to them.
- You're never obligated to stay. Leaving early is always okay.
After a meetup
- Report anything that felt unsafe, even if "nothing happened." It helps us protect others.
Things that are never okay at a Helloo meetup
- Harassment, threats, intimidation, or violence.
- Sexual harassment or unwanted advances.
- Pressuring anyone to drink, use substances, share personal information, hand over money, or go somewhere they don't want to.
- Weapons, illegal substances, or endangering intoxication.
- Recording or photographing people without consent.
Any of these can result in immediate removal and a permanent ban, and we may involve law enforcement.
How to report
- In-app Report button — fastest, and lets you attach details.
- A host at the meetup — they can act on the spot.
- Email support@helloo.com.au — for anything sensitive or after the fact.
What happens next: we acknowledge reports promptly, review them, and take proportionate action — which can include removing a member, banning them, or cooperating with authorities. We handle reports as confidentially as we can and do not retaliate against people who report in good faith. We can't always share the outcome of action taken against another person, for privacy reasons.
Vulnerable situations and crisis
- Helloo AI is a companion, not a crisis or mental-health service. If you or someone else is in danger or crisis, contact local emergency services or a professional helpline.

- If a member expresses intent to harm themselves or others, contact emergency services and report to us so we can act.
Special care
- Adults only. Helloo is for people 18+. Report suspected under-18 users to support@helloo.com.au.
- Home-hosted meetups (e.g. living-room game nights) carry extra considerations. Hosts must follow the additional home-hosting guidance in the Host Terms, and members should apply extra caution before attending a private residence.

As we learn, we improve. Material changes will be communicated in-app or by email.
