Helloo Club — for people who host clubs

Thank you for wanting to bring people together. Every Helloo Club runs on a real human who cares — and that's you. These Host Terms apply in addition to the Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, Safety Policy, and Privacy Policy. Where they conflict on host-specific matters, these Host Terms control.
Fill-in note: Confirm the Host add-on billing terms, tax (GST), and worker-classification language with counsel. Host status (independent contractor vs. other) has legal and tax consequences in Australia.
1. Applying to host
- You must be 18 or older and a verified member to host.
- Hosting is unlocked by subscribing to the paid Host add-on (see Section 4). Verification plus an active Host add-on are both required before you can publish an event.
- We may run additional checks appropriate to a trust-and-safety role, which can include identity verification and, where lawful and relevant, background checks. By hosting, you consent to these checks. We handle this data under the Privacy Policy.
2. Your relationship with Helloo
- Unless a separate written agreement says otherwise, you are an independent host, not an employee or agent of Helloo. You don't have authority to bind Helloo or speak on its behalf.
- You're responsible for your own taxes and for complying with local laws that apply to running gatherings.
3. What we handle vs. what you handle
We handle: the platform — event listings, the city calendar, RSVPs and the approval queue, safety tooling, and your public share link.
You handle: actually showing up and hosting — greeting members, easing the awkward opener, keeping the group warm, small, and safe, following our safety guidance, and collecting any ticket money yourself.
4. Fees and money
- You pay us. Hosting is a paid Host add-on — a recurring monthly subscription (charged in AUD, GST-inclusive) that unlocks creating and publishing events, featured placement, and host tools. Current pricing is shown in-app before you subscribe.
- We do not pay hosts. This isn't a payout scheme — Helloo is the platform, not your employer or paymaster.
- Attendees pay you, not us, and offline. Any ticket price you set is collected directly from attendees in person (cash or your own arrangement). Helloo does not process attendee ticket payments and takes no cut of them. You are responsible for your own pricing, receipts, refunds, and taxes on that money.
- Cancelling the Host add-on stops future billing and your ability to publish new events; events already published may be affected as described in-app. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law.
5. Host responsibilities
As a host you agree to:
- Set the tone. Kindness is the protocol. No trolling, no tolerating it either.
- Keep clubs small and welcoming, as intended — make the quiet person feel included.
- Follow the Safety Policy. Run meetups in appropriate venues, watch for risk, and act on concerns.
- Handle members' data carefully. You'll receive limited attendee information on a need-to-know basis. Use it only to run the meetup. Don't store, share, export, or contact members outside Helloo without their consent.
- Report incidents to us promptly via support@helloo.com.au or the in-app tools.
- Respect anonymity. Members choose when to reveal themselves. Don't out anyone or share what's said at a meetup.
- Not misuse your position — no soliciting, selling, recruiting, romantic pressure, or personal-gain schemes directed at members.
6. Home-hosted and private-venue meetups
If you host in a private residence or non-public venue:
- Make the location and setup clear to attendees in advance.
- Take extra care with group size, safety, and members' comfort.
- Follow any additional home-hosting checklist we provide.
- You're responsible for the safety and legality of your venue.
7. Safety and conduct authority
At a meetup, you may ask someone to leave, end a session early, or escalate a concern to us if a member's behaviour is unsafe or breaks the rules. Use this authority in good faith and proportionately. Escalate anything serious to us and, where needed, to emergency services (dial 000 in Australia).
8. Confidentiality
You may receive non-public information about Helloo, members, or operations. Keep it confidential and use it only to host. This survives the end of your hosting relationship.
9. Suspension and removal
We may pause or end your hosting — sometimes immediately — if you break these terms, create risk to members, fail checks, or where required by law. On removal, you must stop representing yourself as a Helloo host and stop using member data. Removal for cause does not entitle you to a refund of Host add-on fees already paid, except where required by law.
10. Liability
You're responsible for your own conduct as a host. To the extent permitted by law, Helloo isn't liable for your acts or omissions, and you agree to act lawfully and in line with these terms. Nothing here removes protections you can't lawfully waive.
